The Warrior Within
Warrior Within
In our weakness, he is our strength
Have you mastered the art of finding inner peace while holding onto secret hopes for a surprising turn of events? Let's be honest, achieving contentment ensures setbacks won't dampen our spirits. According to God’s word, we walk by faith not by sight, therefore, let's confidently navigate life with faith as our faithful companion, knowing that our aspirations are within reach through prayer! I beleive in the power of prayer, and in my 55 years, I have experienced what I hoped and prayed for, become a reality.
Every day, I send good vibes to my mom's well-being, hoping she feels stronger than the day before. Dealing with mobility challenges, we've settled for limited movement and the need for extra help. Our house has three floors, with my mom's room way up top. If I could turn back time to 2016, I'd have picked a more accessible home - maybe a one-story ranch-style house. My mom's confined to the upper floor, as navigating two flights of stairs is a tough feat for her. Frankly, some days even I find it a bit too much!
On the 4th of July, a significant day when we celebrate to commemorate the USA's liberation from British rule! Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of Independence created history by announcing the thirteen colonies as independent states. Three centuries later, on that memorable day, I engaged in a pleasant conversation with my beloved mother.
- Me: "Mom, are you feeling up to going downstairs today? "
- Mom: "Oh, yes! I'm in the mood for the challenge of walking down."
- Me: Surprised look "Mom, that's quite an adventure for you! How about I enlist Earnest and Isaac to assist you with a regal wheelchair descent?"
- Mom: Looks at me with a gentle expression, remaining quiet
- Me: "Mom, I'm concerned about the stair climb. Don't forget you'll have to ascend too! Your safety is my main concern."
- Mom: "All I need is Earnest beside me, lending a hand as I conquer the stairs."
To my absolute awe, she actually did it! With a little help from my husband, my mom conquered the stairs round trip. It was a real energy drain for her, but hey, she nailed it! I will never underestimate the warrior within my mom. I must forgot about the warrior that raised me and all the phenomenal things she achieved while raising me. As the Bible says, in our weakness, God is our strength.
Let's hit the rewind button for a moment. On my 55th birthday, all I craved was a joyful celebration with my loved ones. My hubby and son-in-law whisked Mom downstairs in her wheelchair for the festivities at Texas Road House. We had a blast! However, prior to that day, mom took it easy most days. Mom remains in her room every day. Mom's mobility took a hit since her last hospital stay. She battles fatigue and struggles with intense back and knee pain. Due to those discomforts, I aim to smooth the path for her. Yet, discovering from the July 4th episode, I've realized I need to let mom spread her wings and try new things. Remember the old saying, "No pain, no gain.". There are moments when we have to embrace the awkwardness, like when we're sweating it out to shed some pounds. It's all about stepping out of our cozy bubble to conquer our dreams. I've got to give my mom a chance to conquer her missions, no matter how wacky they may seem. The mind is a powerhouse - what it commands, the body obeys.
