Quality of life

Quality of Life    My frame was not hidden from you      when I was made in the secret place,      when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16  Your eyes saw my unformed body;        all the days ordained for me were written in your book    .  Psalm 139:15 – 16       As the treatment continues, the debilitating side effects become increasingly unbearable.  Imagine undergoing treatment, and with each passing day, you feel progressively worse.   Two years had passed, and this was my mother's firsthand account.  My mother, tired and worn from her last hospitalization and stay in the nursing home, gazes into my eyes and softly utters, "I can't bear to continue with chemotherapy."    When I looked at her, a wave of understanding washed over me, and I realized that I no longer had the desire to continue after thi...

Cost of Care

Cost of care Have you ever thought about the expenses associated with cancer treatment? When my mother received her cancer diagnosis, the cost of treatment was my second concern. Prior to her diagnosis, we had already accumulated various medical copayments, ranging from $20 to $100. I recall thinking about how costly it could become and whether we would manage to cover it. After my mother received her diagnosis, we scheduled her initial appointment with the oncologist. At the appointment, we received a packet of information which included a financial aid form. I completed the form right away, and it was approved before her treatment began. My mother didn't have to pay anything for her cancer treatments. I expressed my gratitude to God for this blessing. It was a wonderful feeling when she went to the pharmacy to pick up her prescriptions and didn't have to pay anything or when she received her chemo treatment, there was no co pay.  Let’s talk about these costs According to rese...

The Warrior Within

Warrior Within In our weakness, he is our strength  Have you mastered the art of finding inner peace while holding onto secret hopes for a surprising turn of events? Let's be honest, achieving contentment ensures setbacks won't dampen our spirits. According to God’s word, we walk by faith not by sight, therefore, let's confidently navigate life with faith as our faithful companion, knowing that our aspirations are within reach through prayer! I beleive in the power of prayer, and in my 55 years, I have experienced what I hoped and prayed for, become a reality.  Every day, I send good vibes to my mom's well-being, hoping she feels stronger than the day before. Dealing with mobility challenges, we've settled for limited movement and the need for extra help. Our house has three floors, with my mom's room way up top. If I could turn back time to 2016, I'd have picked a more accessible home - maybe a one-story ranch-style house. My mom's confined to the up...

A Deflating Balloon

In my distress I called to the  Lord ,  and he answered me.   Psalm 120:1   Have you ever experienced the sensation of gradually deflating, like a balloon losing its air?   Each day starts with an abundance of energy, but one morning you can't shake the nagging sense that something is amiss.    Are you following along?   Well, here is my story, a tapestry of sights, sounds, and emotions that will transport you to another realm.   Friday's arrival triggered an unusual feeling in my throat, as if a persistent tickle and scratch were taking place.  As I embark on my regular walk, I can feel the intensity of the morning sun and the sweltering heat, the thermometer reading 84 degrees.  Despite my love for this kind of weather, my walk on this day felt unusually difficult.    To combat whatever is coming, I turn to my trusty arsenal of goodies: Emergence C, Elderberry, Vitamin C, and a squeeze of lemon....
